Tonight, the Eve of Election Day, at 7pm, we will gather in the UJC's Zoom meeting room for prayer and meditation Why?
In a word: because.
Because from the beginning of the world’s creation, we Jews have been called to be partners with the Holy One of Blessing in both the continuing creation of the world and the continuing repair of an incomplete and fractured world.
Because we Jews work for a world where all people experience wholeness, justice, and compassion (https://rac.org/election-season-2020)
Because we Jews have roamed the world ever since the destruction of the 2nd Temple in 70 CE, and from the beginning of that history we have been taught that we must always involve ourselves for our community.
Because no matter how each of us envisions a God of Israel, we can find strength in asking for guidance and peace.
Because at times of trouble we come together to support and love each other.
Because we are family – and family is where we go when no one else will have us.
No politics, just a time to reflect on our better selves and ask the Holy One of Blessing for guidance, wisdom, strength, courage, and integrity.
