
UJC Religious School Worship Service Requirements
(Revised May 2004)
Attending services gives our students a familiarity with Judaism which cannot be gained in a classroom. Below are the requirements of our Religious School for each grade.
Grades 4 & 5
- Must attend a minimum of 8 services per academic religious school year. These can be either Friday night or Saturday morning Shabbat Services.
- Teacher will keep Prayer Chart in classroom to keep track of attendance at services.
Grade 6
- Must attend a minimum of 12 Shabbat Services. Of the 12 services, 6 must be Saturday morning Shabbat Services. The remainder may be Friday night or Saturday morning Shabbat Services.
- Teacher will keep Prayer Chart in classroom to keep track of attendance at services.
Grade 7 (B'nei Mitzvah)
- Must attend a minimum of 18 Shabbat Services. A minimum of 12 must be the Saturday morning 10:00 a.m. Shabbat Service. The remaining 6 may be any Friday evening or Saturday morning Shabbat Service.
- Students may begin attending services to meet these requirements 12 months before their B'nei Mitzvah.
- Attendance at other synagogues' Shabbat Services is acceptable (maximum of 3).
- Students/parents and teacher will be required to keep track of the services they attend.
- Camp services throughout the summer can be used for 2 Gates of Prayer Shabbat Services.
