Dear Parents,
Welcome to a new year here at the UJC Religious School. Our younger kids will develop a background in Jewish life, Torah and ritual practice. As they move into the High School program, our teens will explore the many paths to God and legitimate forms of Jewish living, hot-topic issues to issues of social activism, from comparative religion to finding deeper meaning in Torah and Rabbinic writings. Our young adults will acquire a frame of reference that is only possible in post-Bar/Bat Mitzvah learning.
Musically, our kids will be surrounded with the sound of music from NFTY/Eisner-Crane Lake Camp melodies to traditional Shabbat and Festival tunes, from Israeli folk melodies and dances to the latest in Israeli hip-hop and rap.
Our parents are essential to successfully growing and nurturing our children. To paraphrase Anne Frank, parents – and teachers – can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands. Our goal is to encourage each child to develop his or her own character through a foundation of Jewish knowledge. Our doors and hearts are always open to lend a supportive shoulder, ear or hand.
May 2005-2006/5766 bring all of us children and parents alike personal fulfillment, the excitement and sweetness of learning and discovery, social growth and community building as we create a kehillah kedoshah – a holy community.
B’virkat shalom,
