The Brotherhood Kosher-for-Passover wine sale is our only planned fund-raiser this year. The funds we raise allow us to contribute to the UJC religious school, scholarship programs, Bar and Bat Mitzvah gifts, confirmation class gifts, and other temple events, such as the upcoming Purim Carnival. We need your orders by April 6 and will deliver the wine at the UJC on April 13. There are forms at the UJC and on the UJC web site, and there will be one in the April Shofar. Held at sunset on Saturday, Havdalah service marks the end of Shabbat and the beginning of a new week. It is a beautiful service including prayer, music, wine, a box of aromatic spices and a special braided candle.
On the second Saturday evening of the each month, we will be holding Havdalah services at the United Jewish Center, with a kosher dairy potluck dinner before the service and dessert after. Each guest family will bring an entree or salad, please call Stacey Spilka for an assigned dish to bring.
Our next Havdalah Service will be on Saturday, April 12, 2008 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the UJC. Please join us. Held at sunset, Havdalah marks the end of Shabbat and the beginning of a new week. National Council of Jewish Women Greater Danbury Section, United Jewish Center and Temple Shearith Israel’s Annual Passover Second Night Seder will take place on Sunday, April 20.
This evening includes a family-oriented seder with an explanation of all of the Passover symbols and a retelling of the Passover story from a specially prepared Haggadah. Families, singles, those new to the community and those new to Judaism are especially encouraged to join us!
The seder includes a catered Kosher for Passover dinner. Each family needs to bring their own wine or grape juice. The seder will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m.
Your reservation, with a $22-per-adult, $16-per-child (4-12) refundable deposit (payable to NCJW), must be received by April 6.

When you shop for toothpaste, shampoo and soap or have travel size toiletries to share remember those who are needy. Personal care items for The Interfaith AIDS ministry and old cell phones, used only for emergencies at the Women's Center, can be left in the basket by the stairs on the first floor.
Social Action projects are funded by your contributions to the United Jewish Center Tikvah Fund and Mazon.
Remember and honor family and friends with a donation to the Tikvah Fund and contribute 3% of the cost of the food at family and synagogue celebrations to help feed the needy at the Dorothy Day Hospitality House soup kitchen.
Remember those less fortunate!
Please don’t forget to drop off person care items for the Interfaith AIDS Ministry and old cell phones for the Women’s Center on the bin in the synagogue in the downstairs hallway.
