On September 30, 2007, the United Jewish Center will honor Dr. Ralph Falkenstein in a long-overdue gesture of deep respect and gratitude. Ralph, a past synagogue president, has been an anchor for our community in many ways.
With dedication and love, Ralph has served the United Jewish Center. And with high standards, diligent efforts, and caring patience, he serves the greater Danbury community as an exemplary physician.
Please join us at La Fortuna Restaurant to honor this very special man.
For more information, contact the United Jewish Center at (203) 748-3355.
Remember those less fortunate!
Personal Care Items Collection: There is a great need in the community for items such as deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo and soap. When you shop for yourself, buy a bit for someone else and bring it to the UJC. Leave donations in the bin near the steps.
Cell Phone Collection: Donate your old cell phone to be used by victims of domestic violence. Bring the phone and charger to the UJC and they will be brought to the Women’s Center to be used just in emergency situations by those who cannot afford their own phones.

If you or a loved one is ailing - at home or in the hospital - and you would like a phone call or visit, please call and leave a message on our clergy’s voicemail(s). Danbury Hospital’s security concerns mean that we may not find out in a timely manner.
Parashat Ki Tetzei (Deut. 21:10 – 25:19) is read on August 25, 2007.
Chapter 21
18 If a man has a wayward and defiant son, who does not heed his father or mother and does not obey them even after they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the public place of his community. 20 They shall say to the elders of his town, "This son of ours is disloyal and defiant; he does not heed us. He is a glutton and a drunkard." 21 Thereupon the men of his town shall stone him to death. Thus you will sweep out evil from your midst: all Israel will hear and be afraid.
