The Active adult will have a brunch outing on Sunday, June 3, 2007 to Hill-Stead Museum and Avon Old Farms Inn.
Hill-Stead, situated on a 152-acre property, is one of America’s finest Colonial Revival homes. Within its confines is housed a marvelous collection including etchings and paintings by Impressionists Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, Claude Monet and James McNeil Whistler. A stunning collection of Chinese porcelains from the Ming and Ching dynasties together with 400 pieces of exquisite period furniture.
Following our guided tour there will be time to wander the magnificent grounds and sunken garden and then off to Avon Old Farms Inn for their award winning Sunday Brunch. Voted Best Sunday Brunch by Connecticut Magazine. This wonderful day will cost you a mere $25.00 per person. The Association of Religious Communities (ARC) Invites all to the 4th Annual Interfaith Peace Camp!
July 9 – 14, 2007
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
For children ages 9 to 12
Children will have fun making new friends as they visit five different sacred sites in our community, including a:
Camp includes lunches, healthy snacks and refreshments, all supplies for games, crafts and inter-active activities.
Fee is $65. (for scholarship waiver, phone Rev. P.J. Leopold at ARC 792-9450)
Each day, Campers will learn “What Peace Means” to a different world religion. Throughout the week, Campers share what peace means to them, as they explore fun, friendly ways to create peace with each other and in our great Danbury community.

Interfaith Peace Camp also provides opportunity for high school and college age students to work as Peer Leaders. Peer Leaders receive a $200 stipend.

Personal Care Items Collection: There is a great need in the community for items such as deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo and soap. When you shop for yourself, buy a bit for someone else and bring it to the UJC. Leave donations in the bin near the steps.
Cell Phone Collection: Donate your old cell phone to be used by victims of domestic violence. Bring the phone and charger to the UJC and they will be brought to the Women’s Center to be used just in emergency situations by those who cannot afford their own phones.
