The Tzofim Friendship Caravan, a group of 16 and 17-year-old Boy and Girl Scouts from Israel, will be visiting the UJC on June 4, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. Please see our flyer for more information.

You and all their friends are invited for worship and brunch on Shabbat morning, June 9th, 2007 to honor the memory of Danbury's Rhoda and Jerome. Rabbi Malino taught that when you lose someone close you find a different way to be together. Of course he was right. Rhoda and Jerome live on in the hearts of those whose lives they touched. Collect all your memories and memorabilia and join old friends for fond remembrances.

Personal Care Items Collection: There is a great need in the community for items such as deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo and soap. When you shop for yourself, buy a bit for someone else and bring it to the UJC. Leave donations in the bin near the steps.
Cell Phone Collection: Donate your old cell phone to be used by victims of domestic violence. Bring the phone and charger to the UJC and they will be brought to the Women’s Center to be used just in emergency situations by those who cannot afford their own phones.

Chapter 18
1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 Speak to the Israelite people and say to them:
I the Lord am your God. 3 You shall not copy the practices of the land of Egypt where you dwelt, or of the land of Canaan to which I am taking you; nor shall you follow their laws. 4 My rules alone shall you observe, and faithfully follow My laws: I the Lord am your God.
1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 Speak to the Israelite people thus: When a woman at childbirth bears a male, she shall be unclean seven days; she shall be unclean as at the time of her menstrual infirmity. — 3 On the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. — 4 She shall remain in a state of blood purification for thirty-three days: she shall not touch any consecrated thing, nor enter the sanctuary until her period of purification is completed. 5 If she bears a female, she shall be unclean two weeks as during her menstruation, and she shall remain in a state of blood purification for sixty-six days.
6 On the completion of her period of purification, for either son or daughter, she shall bring to the priest, at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, a lamb in its first year for a burnt offering, and a pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering. 7 He shall offer it before the Lord and make expiation on her behalf; she shall then be clean from her flow of blood. Such are the rituals concerning her who bears a child, male or female. 8 If, however, her means do not suffice for a sheep, she shall take two turtledoves or two pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. The priest shall make expiation on her behalf, and she shall be clean.
